Karen Connell

Karen Connell received her MFA from Rhode Island School of Design and has a successful artistic career with work in major publications like Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, in addition to books and placement in films and television series.

Karen came to online media in 2006 when she founded the popular blog, A Child Grows in Brooklyn, after giving birth to her son. With nominations for best local blog and interviews with major media outlets like NPR and NBC, she has successfully created a small enterprise that is a powerful online resource for Brooklyn parents. Last year, she created the Brooklyn Baby Expo that had over 500 attendees, 56 vendors and 36 vendors on the waiting list. Her other company, Buzzing Bloggers, did the publicity for the event and garnered local television coverage, 47 press articles including newspaper and online.

Karen uses her knowledge in niche marketing, online journaling and brings her social media presence to Carmel. She has two children under 5 years and an entrepreneur husband- which makes for a very busy household!
